In Kono, one of the poorest and most remote districts of Sierra Leone, David Sandi founded Ahkom Technical/Vocational Centre in 2002, Ahkom Seconday School in 2005 and the Nursery and Primary School in 2015.
The School is made up of five separate small buildings, forming a total of nine classrooms. There are 24 teachers educating over 350 students including 120 pupils in the Technical/Vocational Centre. Donations from supporters have enabled many positive developments at the school, such as a new veranda and the development of a perimeter fence. 99% of the registered pupils come from deprived home, subsisting on less than US$1-2 per day.
Ahkom School was ranked 5th best school in the country in 2015. Our mission is to offer the children of Sierra Leone the opportunity to have a better future through quality and practical education. Ahkom School has now educated some 6,000 children towards a better future.

Primary School students take Basic Education Certificate Exams (BECE) and the Secondary School takes the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Exams (WASSCE).
