Pastor Yatta visited Oxford in February. During his stay he presented a short message to his supporters and at St Andrew’s church. His message is below:
“I am here to express my thanks and appreciation to you at St Andrew’s for your prayers and your support. For over 20 years, you have been partners with us and where we are today as a Mission is good. You have contributed greatly and we say thank you.
Let me also say thank you for your help and support of the Children’s Feeding Programme in December. The children always look forward to it. Anytime they see me, they will ask if it is going to happen again. I have taken this initiative ‘up country’ to Kono to the less privileged. It is a blessing to them.
I also want to take the opportunity to thank you for the stipend of our Pastors and Coaches of the Sportslife Ministry SL which we receive every month. It helps to put food on the table for them and helps the children in school. This is something that has helped the Ministry progress. It is small but goes a long way.
The country of Sierra Leone is deteriorating. In June 2023, we had an election that is still not finished, The President refused to hand over power so the International community cut the support to the government, leaving all of us suffering.
We are gradually losing our younger generation to drugs. All over the country, there is a serious problem with more and more drugs coming into the country.
Please pray for our young people. Everybody wants to leave the country, so they don’t mind dying to go out. Many have died in the Mediterranean as they try to cross to Europe. Everyone wants to go out, to leave, as there is nothing in Sierra Leone for them. When you get to Sierra Leone you will see big houses and big cars, most owned by those who have left and this motivates people to leave.
Our theme for this year, 2025, is ‘Making progress’ – 1 Timothy 4:15, Progress is something you see, something tangible. As a Mission, we must make intentional progress.
Our dream is to leave LEGACY. Another Pharaoh will come that does not know Joseph. Joseph came to Egypt and brought all his family. After some years, another Pharoah came to Egypt that does not know Joseph. There will come a time when you supporters will not be around. Myself, I might not be around. What will happen to the ministry then?
So, my suggestion is:
- Build a church, a school and a health centre in Freetown to generate income to support the rest of the ministry
- To buy a 20 seater bus to bring people to church
Buying a piece of land in Freetown is expensive but we would save money in the end by not paying rent.”
